Jared Goff will be the face of the new Los Angeles Rams franchise after being selected with the first pick in the NFL Draft.

The Rams relocated from St Louis in the off-season and then traded with the Tennessee Titans to secure the top pick in a bid to address their quarterback problem, giving up six picks across the top three rounds this year and next.

The Philadelphia Eagles then traded for the Cleveland Browns’ number two pick, providing a clear indication that quarterbacks Goff and Carson Wentz would be the first two names off the board.

And local boy Goff, from California University, got the nod for a Rams outfit looking to make a splash in their new home.

The Eagles duly took Wentz, the small-school prospect from North Dakota State, to potentially take over should incumbent starter Sam Bradford be granted the trade he is seeking after being upset by their move for the second pick.

Ole Miss left tackle Laremy Tunsil, who had been projected as the number one overall selection when Tennessee held the pick, was instead taken at number 13 by the Miami Dolphins.

Tunsil’s slide coincided with a picture appearing on Twitter of him smoking drugs. The post was quickly deleted and Tunsil claims his account was hacked, with a further post later showing a Facebook Messenger chat where he asked to borrow money to pay his rent, but his fall could have cost him a reported $13million.

The San Diego Chargers took advantage of the quarterback one-two to scoop up the top overall talent on their draft board, selecting Joey Bosa with the third pick and the Dallas Cowboys picked up Ohio State back Ezekiel Elliott to run behind their dominant offensive line.

The Titans, having dropped to 15 in the trade with the Rams, moved back up to eighth and selected linesman Jack Conklin.

Having traded down from two to eight and then again to 15, the Cleveland Browns were still able to pick up Corey Coleman, choosing not to take a quarterback.

The New England Patriots were without their first-round pick due to the scandal over deflated footballs which has also seen quarterback Tom Brady suspended for the first four games of the new season.
