At the age of ten, Michelle Waterson took the first steps of what would later blossom into a professional fighting by enrolling as a karate student, and proudly holds the black belt in American Free Style Karate. She is also well-versed in other styles such as WuShu, BJJ and wrestling.

However, she ultimately rose to fame as a contestant on Fight Girls, a Muay Thai-themed reality show, while also appearing as one of the fighters in MTV’s Bully Beatdown.

Following a successful MMA debut and Invicta Fighting Championship performance, Waterson was reportedly signed with the UFC to compete in the strawweight division.

Comfortably sitting in the twelfth position, Waterson will now take on no. 8 Paige VanZant for Fight Night Sacramento. The former model took time out of her busy preparatory schedule to discuss the life in the Octagon and the importance of family for support and motivation.

Who will come out victorious?
