Johnson Charles who scored 42 in the West Indies’ win says the team was glad to have opened their UAE tour with a win.

“Definitely we were looking for a win, and that we got. We don’t want to start the tour off on a losing note. I thought we played decent enough, and we just got to look to step it up when the tournament starts,” said Charles.

“I’m not too big on ratings but what I could say is that they played very well and chasing down the total and coming very close was a good batting performance by the UAE.

“I think they played very good all round cricket, they were good in the field and with the bat and congratulations to them. They’re an international side and a very good one too so we’re just going to go back to the drawing board, get some good practices in and just come hard at them.

“My innings could have been better but the pitch was a bit on the slow side, it was very dry so there will definitely be have to be some change in the way I play. All in all it still was a good innings. I think we still need to get accustomed. There is still a bit of jet lag. We just got to get passed that and put in a lot of work.”
