Karim Abdel Gawad overcame World Championship runner-up Omar Mosaad in the semi-final to reach the title-decider where he faced Ali Farag – the Cairo-born World No.10.

Gawad won in straight games and he become the first Egyptian to taste success at the tournament since the legendary Ahmed Barada in 1998.
