Special Olympics Ambassador and Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix says the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi represent an exciting opportunity for everyone in the UAE.

Facilities at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) will be used for athletics and powerlifting events during the Games, which are set to take place from March 14 to 21, 2019.

Other sporting events, including swimming, will also make good use of the university for the 2018 MENA Special Olympics Games, scheduled to commence in March 2018.

NYUAD has called for volunteers to get involved and gain experience – with London 2012 Olympic Games 200m gold medallist and American track star Felix urging people to make the most of the opportunity.

She told Sport360°’s Denzil Pinto: “I think it’s a great opportunity to give volunteers exposure to what the Special Olympics movement is all about.”

Look out for the full interview with the sprinter next week.
