The capital will be dazzled by the world’s best high divers this weekend as the FINA High Diving World Cup hits the waters of Abu Dhabi.

Held on Friday and Saturday at Abu Dhabi Yas Marina, the fourth edition of the competition, together with the UAE Swimming Federation and Abu Dhabi Sports Council, athletes will compete for prize money and bragging rights.

Spectators are granted free entry to witness for the event where men divers plunge in from 27 metres high, while women will attempt their dives from 20m.

The winning man and woman will earn $10,000, while second place will net $9,000 and third place $8,000.

Last year’s event, also held in Abu Dhabi, saw Gary Hunt top the podium for the men and Lysanne Richard for the women.

Great Britain’s Hunt finished with a total of 639.30 points and Canadian Richard accumulated 253.80 points to earn gold.

Both divers will return to the capital this weekend to defend their titles in a deep and diverse field.
