Former Liverpool star Luis Garcia has backed Real Madrid to be fine without Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club in a shock transfer to Juventus this summer.

Garcia, who has ties to two of Madrid’s biggest rivals – he rose through the ranks of Barcelona‘s academy and represented the first team, as well as playing for Atletico Madrid later in his career – says the players who were Ronaldo’s supporting cast until this season will have a chance to shine now.

“It’s a new Real Madrid,” said the Spaniard, who singled out Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema as the players who will step up in Ronaldo’s absence, noting that the two have already looked the part in Madrid’s start to the season.

Garcia added that he expected Isco, Marco Asensio, and possibly young midfielder Dani Ceballos to help ensure Ronaldo is not missed.
