Rafael Nadal has revealed exactly what it takes to become world number one, and his new bride might not like what she hears.

Ahead of the Paris Masters the 19 times Grand Slam champion admitted he doesn’t have time for a honeymoon just yet and only took one day off tennis after marrying his longtime girlfriend Maria Francisca Perello in Mallorca on October 19.

When asked whether he had a honeymoon scheduled, Nadal responded: “No, no. I have been doing the things that I have to do. I take my weeks off during the season and we decided that well.

“In the world of tennis you have to find your priorities and I, we, decided the way that we wanted to do, we took our time off before the wedding and now is the moment to be back.”

“After the wedding I had the Sunday off and then Monday, Tuesday, practice, Wednesday flying to Kazakhstan. Thursday late night here.”
