UAE-based group ‘The Gear Shifters’ are celebrating after manufacturing the first student-built racing car in the emirates.

The group of students won Abu Dhabi’s prestigious ‘Innovators’ 2016 competition, coming out on top from a pool of 120 teams.

In 2013, they flew to the Michigan International Speedway and took part in the Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) before heading to Italy two years later.

In celebration of their achievement, the young engineers from Dubai’s BITS Pilani Institute of Science and Technology have produced a video showing off their creation.
