Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp defended Mauricio Pochettino’s quest to win the Premier League as his main priority.

He insisted that finishing in the top four is much more important for long-term survival at the top clubs over short term success that winning silverware can bring.

The Argentine received very derisive remarks from fans and rivals for his comments, but Klopp sympathized with his counterparts and agreed with his methods.

“I know that people didn’t like what Poch (Mauricio Pochettino) said in this moment,” Klopp said, “But it’s so easy from outside looking at that and it’s from a club point of view. I think the best competition to win is the Premier League because then you are in the top four and you’ve won a big thing.”
