Sergio Ramos reserved special praise for Barcelona legend Lionel Messi, labelling him ‘one of the greatest in history’.

However, the Real Madrid captain hopes the Argentine won’t have a good day at the office on Sunday when the two La Liga giants clash in El Clasico.

“I think Messi is one of the greatest players in history and I have huge respect for him,” Ramos said.

“I hope Sunday isn’t his day, that would mean we’ve done our job,” he added.

Ramos also spoke of how honoured he is to captain Madrid and to have the most El Clasico appearances in history.

Barcelona head into the Clasico at Santiago Bernabeu with a two-point lead over their rivals.
