Luis Enrique appears set to return as the head coach of the Spanish national side, replacing Robert Moreno, his former assistant.

Enrique left the post five months ago to care for his seriously ill daughter, who subsequently died, but now the 49 year-old former Real Madrid and Barcelona midfielder seems poised to take up the reins again.

On Monday night Spain completed their Euro 2020 qualification campaign with a 5-0 win over Romania, guaranteeing them top spot in Group F and a place in the finals.

Moreno failed to appear at the post match press conference and reportedly left the stadium in tears – the players did not speak to the media either.

The Spanish football association are due to hold a press conference in Madrid later on Tuesday.
