Getafe head coach Jose Bordalas insists his side’s season will not be a failure if they don’t qualify for the Champions League next season.

Los Azulones (the Deep Blues) have been one of the feel-good stories this season in La Liga and they have the chance to qualify for the elite European competition next term as they go into the final day of the season sitting fifth, level with fourth-placed Valencia on 58 points.

Getafe face Villarreal at home and need to better Los Che’s result at Real Valladolid to create history for the Madrid-based side.

Asked if it would all be a waste if they don’t get into the Champions League, Bordalas said ahead of Saturday’s game: “No, not a waste at all. We just need to enjoy this amazing season.”
