Juventus missed the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Serie A table after the league leaders were handed a 1-2 loss at Napoli.

Maurizio Sarri’s return to the home of his former employers didn’t exactly go to plan with Napoli riding on two second-half goals to garner all three points.

Piotr Zielinski and Lorenzo Insigne were the goalscorers for Napoli before Cristiano Ronaldo pulled one back for Juventus in stoppage time. It was the eight league game in a row that Ronaldo had managed to score in, but it proved just to be a consolation for Juventus on the night.

The defeat means that Juventus lead over Inter Milan remains restricted to just three points. Antonio Conte’s Inter had been held to a 1-1 draw by Cagliari earlier in the day.

See what Sarri had to say about Juventus’ lack of ‘mental energy’ in the costly defeat in the video posted above.
