IPL 2020: Jonny Bairstow inflicts more misery on freefalling KXIP

It keeps going from bad to worse for Kings XI Punjab’s IPL 2020 campaign after yet another defeat for KL Rahul and his men.

KXIP were comprehensively thrashed by 69 run by Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday, with Jonny Bairstow and Rashid Khan playing starring roles in the clash.

A smashing 97 from Bairstow set the tone early for SRH and they capitalised on that knock to post a daunting total of 201-6 in 20 overs. Apart from young Ravi Bishnoi’s late three-wicket haul, it was a day to forget for most of Punjab’s bowlers including all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.

Kings XI Punjab’s run-chase never got going after the early dismissals of their openers, and a valiant 77 off just 37 balls from Nicholas Pooran was not enough to avert an emphatic defeat.

Rashid Khan’s superb figures of 3-12 ensured that KXIP were bowled out for just 132 runs inside 17 overs in Dubai.
