Saracens consolidated first place in European Rugby Champions Cup Pool One on Friday night with a 27-9 bonus point win over Ulster.

Before the match got underway in Northern Ireland, there was a minutes silence for those who lost their lives in Paris, and the death of Jonah Lomu.

After last weeks postponement, Ulster got their Championship Cup underway on Friday night hosting Saracens – the reigning champions in England's Premiership.

The home side, with an extra man advantage on the pitch took the lead through a Paddy Jackson drop goal. 

The Ulster fly-half slotted two further penalties in the next ten minutes and the 1999 European champions led 9-0. 

Saracens struck back just before the half-hour mark though when Owen Farrell's cut-out pass found Andy Goode, who sucked in the Ulster defence before sending Chris Wyles over in the corner. 

Farrell missed the conversion in testing conditions and Ulster led 9-5 at half-time. 

The visitors suffered a second sin-binning 15 minutes into the second half when Billy Vunipola was found guilty of tackling Iain Henderson without using his arms following a review from the TMO (Television Match Official).

But the big number eight's absence wasn't felt by Saracens as the side scored two unanswered tries during Vunipola's time on the sidelines. 

A brilliant off-load from Duncan Taylor sent Goode through to score in the 60th minute before the Scottish centre scored a try of his own five minutes later. 

Farrell set it up with a break down the left wing leaving Taylor with the easiest of finishes. 

His sin-bin period having long since expired, Vunipola scored Saracens' fourth try for a bonus point in the final minute of the game, touching down from the back of a dominant rolling maul. 

27-9 it finished. Saracens move nine points clear at the top of the Pool one standings.
