Drawn in Africa Cup of Nations Group A, Egypt trained on Wednesday ahead of their opener against Zimbabwe.

Following a disappointing performance at the World Cup last year, Egypt brought in former Mexico and Atletico Madrid head coach Javier Aguirre – who also enjoyed a successful spell with Al Wahda in the UAE.

Since his arrival Egypt have scored 20 goals in their last eight matches, and he will be looking to their star forward Mohamed Salah to replicate the form that saw him net 22 times for Champions League-winning Liverpool this season.

Egypt, hosting the Africa Cup of Nations for a record fifth time, are aiming to win the tournament for the eighth time.

Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda are also competing in Group A.
