The Barcelona star, who has scored 49 goals in 73 appearances at international level and helped Brazil win the Olympic Games gold medal on home soil last summer, is his country’s biggest footballing icon.

Following in the footsteps of Brazilian legends like Pele, Zico, Romario, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho – Neymar came close to helping his country win their sixth World Cup in 2014 – but his tournament was ended prematurely after Colombia full-back Juan Camilo Zuniga injured the attacker in the quarter-final.
