ICC Champions Trophy 2017 preview: England – Can Three Lions win on home soil?

The 2017 domestic summer for England is set to be their busiest ever with the Champions Trophy taking place throughout June as well as all-format series against South Africa and West Indies.

England, who are currently gearing-up for their June 1 tournament opener against Bangladesh at the Oval with one-day international clashes against the Proteas, are considered by many as the team to beat this time around.

England play New Zealand (June 6 at Sophia Gardens) and arch-rivals Australia (June 10 at Edgbaston) in their other Group A matches.

Since an abysmal group stage exit at the 2015 ICC World Cup, Eoin Morgan’s men have won seven out of their past 10 ODI series, and in the process, played an attacking brand of cricket.

Indeed, England broke the world-record run-scoring total against Pakistan last summer during their 3rd ODI contest at Nottingham – smashing 444-3 in a 169-run win.

Here, Sport360’s Stuart Appleby and Chris Bailey discuss whether can deliver England’s first 50-over title and their second ICC trophy overall.
