During the 2012 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), AB de Villiers sat down for a chat with Siddharth Mallya where the latter asks the star batsman if he knows any words in Hindi or Kannada.

The Proteas ODI captain responds by stating that he knows a song which he sang once with Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan. He goes on to sing ‘Yeh Dosti Hum Nahin’ from the 1970s cult classic ‘Sholay’.

Thanks to the IPL, de Villiers has become quite a popular figure in India. There have been numerous instances when his name has been chanted in Indian stadiums even when he has been representing South Africa in an international game against India.
