HPCA feel “let down” by local government after losing India vs Pakistan match

Dharamsala, INDIA — Sood, who is HPCA press secretary, does not blame the BCCI for their involvement in the move but instead laid the blame at the door of local government officials who allowed politics to influence sport.

Speaking just moments after the news was announced, Sood explained that he now believes that sport in the region will now suffer as a result of the developments over the past few months which has seen Dharamsala heavily scrutinised by people both close to home and the wider world.

“We are very saddened by the development. We were really looking forward to this biggest game of the tournament and we were geared up to host it,” said Sood from the sidelines of Bangladesh vs Netherlands at the HPCA Stadium.

“Some people for their vested interests have let us down and Himachal has lost a very big opportunity. I think sports will be relegated in this state for times to come.

“I think the BCCI has been very supportive of Himachal cricket but, I would not like to take names, certain politicians related to the ruling have really played on the shoulders of the ex-servicemen and that has really cost us this loss.”
