The world number 26 defeated compatriot SPP Chowrasia on a play-off hole last year, and will be hoping to rediscover his strong form when the tournament gets under way on Thursday.

Speaking to Golfing Indian, Lahiri says he feels positive about returning to Delhi – a course that’s like a second home for the 28-year-old.

“It’s a good feeling,” he said. “Whenever I come back to Delhi, I feel like home. I have a great record here, and I somehow seem to find my way around the course. I’m going to bank on my experience and hopefully that comes into play.”

“I have managed to defend my title once before, hopefully I can give myself a chance on Sunday.”
