Rory McIlroy will go into Sunday’s final round tied at the top of the leaderboard after play was once again stopped due to darkness.

The world number three, playing alongside Andy Sullivan and American amateur Bryson DeChambeau, hit three birdies in the opening nine holes to finish in contention on ten-under-par.

McIlroy looked in composed form throughout and shares the lead with Dutchman Joost Luiten (10 holes), world number six Rickie Fowler (11 holes), England’s Ian Poulter (13 holes) and South African Branden Grace (16 holes) heading into Sunday’s penultimate round.

Jordan Spieth (68) hit four birdies to finish the day on seven-under par.
