Diego Maradona addressed the media in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Sunday after being unveiled as the new head coach of Argentine Primera Division side Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata.

During a media conference, the 58-year-old talked about helping Lionel Messi to improve his technique at free kicks and insisted he had been set up when giving a positive drugs test at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA.

Maradona, a World Cup winner in 1986, returns to Argentina after leaving Mexican second flight club Dorados de Sinaloa in June.

The 58-year-old takes over a Gimnasia side that are currently bottom of the 24-team Primera Division standings.

As well as a spell as Argentina’s head coach from 2008 to 2010, Maradona has previously managed two clubs in his home land: Mandiyu de Corrientes and Racing Club.
