Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski said he regrets defender Mats Hummels’ decision “not to help us anymore” after his former team-mate rejoined his former club Borussia Dortmund.

The German champions begin the new season with a German Super Cup showdown against 2018/19 Bundesliga runners-up Dortmund on Saturday.

“I’m a Bayern player. That Mats went back to Dortmund was his decision,” said the Polish striker of a player he played with both at Bayern and Dortmund.

“I have to admit I regret he decided not to try to play here for longer, not to fight for his position in the team, decided not to help us any more. But of course it was his decision, and now he’s one of our opponents.”
