Andre Agassi reflects on controversial 1990 French Open “Hot Lava” outfit

Andre Agassi was certainly a man unafraid of causing a little controversy during his long, successful career at the top of men’s tennis.

And in 1990 he truly tested the limits of tennis’ establishment with an outfit that today wouldn’t have registered an iota of shock considering the tour’s love for outlandish colour in the modern era.

But back then, as Agassi took to the Roland Garros courts, he turned many a head.

Wearing dashing “hot lava” (don’t call it pink!) undershorts, denim shorts and streaks of the pink (we called it pink!) across his shirt and Nike Airs, Agassi was quite the sight.

It turns out, Agassi was more than happy to have ruffled a few feathers, as he describes to YouTube channel Unscriptd here.
