WATCH: F1 champion Nico Rosberg announces his retirement

Formula One world champion Nico Rosberg has announced he is retiring from the sport with immediate effect.

Rosberg, who claimed his maiden title at the season-deciding race in Abu Dhabi last Sunday, made the shock revelation at a press conference in Vienna.

“I have decided to end my Formula One career here,” Rosberg, 31, said.

The German driver announced his shock retirement in this video posted on Mercedes AMG Petronas’ official YouTube channel.
