Story of La Liga’s last Spanish top scorer

Andy West

Karim Benzema sits comfortably top of La Liga’s scoring charts, so it looks like another year will pass by without a Spanish player leading the league in goalscoring.

That hasn’t happened since 2008, when Dani Guiza netted 27 goals to fire Mallorca into seventh place.

Guiza’s haul included a dramatic last-minute late-season winner at the Camp Nou against Barcelona, as Mallorca finished the campaign with six straights wins featuring nine goals from their frontman.

Watch La Liga expert Andy West tell his story.
