The brief summer transfer window will be unusually quiet in La Liga, with the ‘Big Two” not likely to make any major deals because Real Madrid don’t really need anybody and Barcelona don’t have any money.

But there will be some deals, and the biggest transfer could well be the departure of Ferran Torres from Valencia.

Manchester City are leading the chase for his signature, and they could get themselves a great deal for a number of reasons.

A fee around €30-40 million has been speculated, and if that’s accurate Torres could prove to become the bargain of the century.
