Karim Benzema stopped Real Madrid’s underwhelming La Liga season going from bad to worse on Sunday after firing a last-minute winner to hand the European champions a barely-deserved 3-2 winner over bottom club Huesca.

Zinedine Zidane secured a second straight win since returning to the club and it was apt his French counterpart would capture the three points.

Indeed, Zidane has always stuck by Benzema even during times of strife and crticism from the Los Blancos support.

The 31-year-old played a part in two goals before coming through with one of his own in the 89th minute.

With talk of a massive squad overhaul in the summer, Benzema is one of the names under a cloudy future.

However, Zidane says he is counting on the Frenchman remaining at Real next season.

Check out the video above to see what the Real boss had to say.
