Watch: Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni says it’s a privilege to coach Barcelona icon Lionel Messi

Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni confirmed that Lionel Messi will feature for the first time since Argentina were knocked out of the 2018 World Cup round of 16 in Russia when his side take on Venezuela in Madrid on Friday.

The two South American side’s will meet at Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

Scaloni confirmed that Messi’s participation and the former La Albiceleste international said it was a privilege to be able to coach the Barcelona magician.

“Only a few coaches have had this chance and I have it despite my youth. And I’m happy,” said Scaloni, who will lead Argentina for the first time with Messi involved.

“It’s good news for me and for everyone to have him back and be able to coach him. We’ll try to make the team go along with him, for him to play at his best. That’s all. We’re all very happy to have him back.”
