You know you’ve made it as a footballer when there’s a skill move named after you, but Johan Cruyff’s impact on the game goes far beyond his legendary turn.

The Dutch maestro is considered the spiritual father of two separate clubs, Ajax Amsterdam and Barcelona, with both clubs embodying the Total Football philosophy he learned at Ajax and with the Dutch national team. Both teams’ emphasis on youth is another legacy passed on by Cruyff.

Friday marks one year since the Dutch legend passed away.
