It has certainly been a year of memorable goals, ramped up by a summer that included a European Championship and Copa America.

And once again, it is time to decide which was truly the greatest goal over the course of the past 12 months.

FIFA has released its latest Puskas Award nominees and the competition is certainly fierce.

It will come as little surprise that Lionel Messi features on the list, but the likes of Hlompho Kekana and Daniuska Rodriguez will be new names to most people.

As the highlight reel above proves, regardless of the draw of their names, there are some incredible efforts among the final nominees.
