Frank Lampard has described Chelsea’s loss to Newcastle as his side’s ‘story of the season’.

The Blues were handed a 0-1 defeat in the fixture after Isaac Hayden powered home a 94th minute header for the Magpies.

The defeat was Chelsea’s eighth of the season and sees them remain in fourth spot in the table with 39 points. They hold a five-point lead over Manchester United who will be in action against leaders Liverpool on Sunday in Anfield.

Chelsea’s loss to Newcastle followed a familiar script with the Blues dominating possession and proceedings at St. James’ Park, only to be undone by a set-piece conversion from the home side.

The visitors created plenty of chances in the fixture but were let down by some poor finishing from their forwards including Tammy Abraham.
