Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes his side have become the victims of their own success.

City’s hopes of capturing a hat-trick of Premier League titles seem all but over with Guardiola’s men currently trailing leaders Liverpool by a whopping 17 points. Although Man City do have a game in hand, it comes against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.

City, who had accumulated 198 points in total in their Premier League titles in the past two seasons, have been setting new standards in England since the arrival of Guardiola.

However, those lofty standards are now coming back to bite them with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool showing no signs of relenting in an extended unbeaten run.

See what Pep had to say about Liverpool’s rise and City’s indirect part in it in the video posted above.
