Arsenal head coach Unai Emery looked ahead to his side’s Carabao Cup last 16 tie at Liverpool on Tuesday and described it as an opportunity to inject some new energy into the team and the season.

German playmaker Mesut Ozil has been included in Emery’s squad for the first time since he started in the third-round win over Nottingham Forest on September 24th.

“We need his quality, we need his skill,” stated Emery. “We need his consistent and we need his positive mentality. And then we need, he helps us on the pitch. It’s a step.

“And then I think he’s doing before. That’s the steps. And I want one now. Like in the preseason. Like one month ago. Again, help us on the pitch.”
