Gerard Deulofeu insists the 8-0 thumping by Manchester City will be put in the past with a win for Watford over Wolves this weekend.

Versatile Spanish international Deulofeu is going to be pivotal to Watford’s chances of climbing the Premier League table. Quique Sanchez Flores is back in charge of the Hornets but they currently prop up the table after last weekend’s result, which followed a morale-boosting 2-2 home draw with Arsenal, who had been 2-0 ahead.

“We lost, really bad the score. But if we win on Saturday, for sure we are going to forget this match,” said Deulofeu on Wednesday.

“Yes, it was really tough. It was really tough and I have never been in a game who suffered like this. But it is past. We have to think of the next game against Wolves because we have a chance to leave the bottom of the table.”
