Mauricio Pochettino believes Tottenham will be “very competitive” this season as they look to bounce back from their Champions League final disappointment at the hands of Liverpool.

Tottenham lifted the Audi Cup after beating Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on penalties following a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

“Of course it is not easy after the end of the last season. The defeat in the Champions League final. It´s difficult to recover from that,” said Pochettino.

“But we are all athletes. We love this competition. We always try to find the best form. We try to find the best motivation and football within us and also have the wish to come back and win again.

“I am just very content that we have played a really good preparation so far. We also a really good ambience in the team. I believe that we have a team that will be very competitive.”
