Manchester United’s Eric Bailly left the Hongkou Stadium on crutches and with his left leg heavily supported after being stretchered off with a knee injury, minutes after coming on as a second half substitute during his side’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the International Champions Cup on Wednesday.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said the knee injury ‘doesn’t look great’, which raises questions whether Bailly will be fit for the start of the English Premier League season.

The defender will have a scan when the team return to Manchester.

This injury does also increase speculation surrounding Harry Maguire – United have been tracking the centre back for months after Maguire apparently told his club Leicester City he wants a new challenge.
