Arsenal’s Brazilian defender Gabriel pays emotional tribute to Chapecoense victims

While tributes and condolences have been pouring in from all corners of the world for the victims of the Colombia Air Crash tragedy that saw the tragic death of Brazilian Chapecoense team, Arsenal player Gabriel too showed his concern and support for the victims.

In a video posted on Arsenal’s Facebook Page with a message of “Forca Chape”, Gabriel, broke down when asked to express his views on the tragedy.

Gabriel explains how he worked with Chapecoense coaches and a number of their players during his time playing days at Vitoria in his homeland.

His raw tribute is moving to watch, Gabriel’s emotions laid painfully clear for all to see.

“I know it’s not easy to lose a member of the family,” he said. “I know it from experience. I’ve lost a brother myself and I know how painful it is.

“I ask for strength for this team that enchanted Brazilian football, a group that five years ago was in the fourth division and surprised everyone. We only have good memories to keep in our hearts from this team and the friends I made through football.”

An emotional Gabriel’s advice to everyone was: “Don’t leave for tomorrow what you can do today”. Gabriel wished the families of the victims had strength and hoped can comfort their hearts.
