England’s new bowling hero Jofra Archer said the support of the crowd was “heartwarming” as he took six for 45 in just his second Test as England bowled out Australia for just 179 on the first day of the Third Test at Headingley.

Archer served notice of his pace and potential during the World Cup and on his debut in the Second Test at Lord’s where he caused Australia’s key batsman Steve Smith to retire hurt after hitting him with a short ball.

Archer then followed up with his six-wicket haul on Thursday to leave England in the driving seat when they start their first innings on day two.
