Meet the two Dubai Marathon runners who opted to run it backwards

Running a marathon is one thing, setting a good time, beating a personal best, overcoming adversity and raising money for a good cause even more rewarding.

But for some, that just isn’t enough and two runners at this year’s Dubai Marathon proved just that.

Rouhollah Roohbakhshian and Masoumeh Bigdeli were those runners, opting to break the conventions of the race and tackle the course backwards.

Yes, that’s right, backwards.

The pair ran the 42.195 kilometres out of Umm Suqeim and up and down Beach Road while facing the opposite direction in what must have been a bizarre sight for their fellow marathon runners.

Bigdeli, 29, and Roohbakhshian, 36, may have started something here.

However, we cannot recommend anyone try this themselves!
