From the 25,000 runners on the road to the passionate Ethiopian supporters in the stands, Sport360 relives the best bits from Dubai Marathon 2016 both on and off the track.

The race is one of the most lucrative in the world and takes in some breathtaking scenery including the iconic Burj Al Arab.

Ethiopians Tesfaye Abera and Tirfi Tsegaye won the men’s and women’s events respectively.

Despite having 2014 champion Tesgaye Mekonnen and last year’s winner Lemi Berhanu breathing down his neck, Abera said he felt under no pressure during the race.

“I was not even worrying about that. I was just running my own race. My mind was not busy with other people,” he said at the finish line.

“I was confident and I am very happy to become the number one here. I did good preparation for this race. My training was perfect and today the plan worked out very well for me.”
