Australia leg-spinner Adam Zampa found himself in the middle of a controversy in the 2019 World Cup on Sunday after video of him putting his hand in his pocket before bowling against India vent viral, leading to allegations of ball-tampering.

With Australian cricketing still recovering from the bans to David Warner and Steve Smith over the ball-tampering scandal last year, captain Aaron Finch tried to defuse the situation by stating that Zampa was simply using hand-warmers, as he has done every match.

“I haven’t seen the photos but I know that he has hand warmers in his pocket, he has them every single game he plays,” said Finch.

“He just started his spell poorly today which gave them an opportunity to get on top of him.”
