From working as a firefighter in Muscat airport to playing in the Premier League and captaining Oman, it’s been a remarkable journey for Al Al Habsi.

Now plying his trade at Reading FC in the English Championship, the 34-year-old goalkeeper is still at the top of his game.

He was the club’s Player of the Season last term and has the distinction of lifting the FA Cup with Wigan Athletic in 2013.

On the international stage, he also helped Oman to the 2009 Gulf Cup of Nations title, beating Saudi Arabia on penalties in the final.
