Pakistan defeated India by 180 runs to lift the ICC Champions Trophy for the first time at The Oval in south west London on Thursday.

Having been put into bat, Pakistan managed to post a huge total of 338-4 from their 50 overs – with opener Fakhar Zaman notching up his maiden ODI century, scoring 114 from 106 deliveries.

Zaman was lucky early in his innings as he survived a caught-behind off the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah with the Indian pacer having overstepped. Once he got that reprieve, he took his time to get settled in before taking the attack to the Indian bowling, hitting as many as 12 fours and three sixes.

Chasing 339, India’s top-order were undone by some brilliant bowling from Mohammad Amir who dismissed the in-form trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan.

After being reduced to 33-3 and then 72-6, India were never really in the contest despite a fighting 43-ball 76 from Hardik Pandya.

With this win, Pakistan completed quite the turnaround having lost to India by a huge margin in their first match of the tournament.
