Following his double century in the Test against Australia, India’s Cheteshwar Pujara has jumped four places and is now ranked second in the ICC Test Rankings for Batsmen.

Pujara is the highest-ranked Indian batsman, overtaking captain Virat Kohli who is having a forgettable series with the bat against Australia. Kohli, though, has been able to retain his fourth spot with New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson dropping three positions to fifth.

Australia’s Steve Smith still has a healthy lead at the top of the rankings and has achieved a career-best 941 points after his unbeaten 178 in the first innings of the Ranchi Test.

David Warner, on the other hand, has dropped three places and finds himself in eighth spot. The Australian opener has had a poor series against India so far, with just 131 runs in three Tests at an average of 21.83.

There are two Pakistan batsmen – Azhar Ali and Younis Khan – in the top ten, while South African wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock has broken into the top ten for the first time in his Test career.

The top 10 batsmen in the Test rankings can be seen in the gallery above.
