From Mudassar Nazar to KL Rahul: List of batsmen dismissed on 199 in Test cricket

KL Rahul became the ninth batsman and the second Indian in the history of Test cricket to be dismissed on 199 during the fifth Test between India and England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

Before Rahul, the only Indian batsman to be dismissed on the unfortunate mark was Mohammad Azharuddin back in 1986 in a Test against Sri Lanka at Kanpur.

Interestingly, no batsman in the first 107 years of Test cricket was dismissed on 199 before Pakistan’s Mudassar Nazar became the first in a Test against India in 1984.

Before Rahul, Australian captain Steve Smith was the last batsman to get out one run short of a double century. He was dismissed for 199 by Jerome Taylor in June 2015.

The most unfortunate batsman on this list is definitely Younis Khan, who was run-out on 199.

You can watch the video of Younis’ run-out below and find the list of all nine batsmen in the gallery above.
