India have closed the gap on New Zealand to just one point in the ICC ODI Team Rankings after defeating the Blackcaps in the recently-concluded ODI series. New Zealand are third and have lost one point while India have gained one to go to 111 points.

Going into the series, the Kiwis held the third position and had a three-point lead over India. The MS Dhoni-led side couldn’t overtake their opponents on the rankings table, but were successful in registering a hard-fought series victory.

Australia, despite suffering a humiliating 5-0 whitewash at the hands of South Africa recently, continue to top the ICC ODI Rankings with 118 points. The Proteas are in second place, with 116 points.

England’s fortunes in limited overs cricket have experienced a renaissance of sorts since the 2015 ODI World Cup and that sees them slot in at number five. Since the world event where they were knocked out in the first round, they have won five of their seven ODI series since.
