A look back at Sergio Aguero’s most memorable Manchester City goals as he becomes club’s record-scorer

18:00 02/11/2017

When Sergio Aguero scored in the 69th minute on Wednesday night to put Manchester City 3-2 up against Napoli, he carved out a slice of history for himself.

The strike was Aguero’s 178th goal in City colours, breaking the club’s all-time goalscoring record previously held by Eric Brooks.

While he no doubt would have preferred to do it on home turf, the venue for Aguero’s record-breaking goal was nonetheless fitting. The Stadio San Paolo was home to compatriot and Argentina legend Diego Maradona – who also happens to be Aguero’s former father-in-law, and grandfather to Aguero’s son – when he led Napoli to Serie A glory in the 1980s.

Those 178 goals have included some wonderful, momentous strikes, including that goal in 2012 to dramatically win the Premier League title with the last kick of the season.

Have a look back at his 10 most memorable Manchester City goals in the gallery above.
